BOBBY BROWN HAS QUESTIONS ABOUT THE ARVADA CHURCH AND NEW LIFE CHURCH HOMICIDES! WHAT WAS ON THE MIND OF MATTHEW MURRAY? WHY NEW LIFE CHURCH?

First of all, I want it to be perfectly clear that if Ms. Jeanne Assam "Took Down," Matthew Murray as she described it at her first press conference at the Colorado Springs Police Department, she deserves all of attention and coverage of the fact that she may have saved many lives.

 

If she only saved one person, she is still a hero.

 

I personally do not want to distract her heroic deed, however, as a former law enforcement officer I have a couple of questions that I believe many others that have heard her accounting of what happened, all of which is supported by her Pastor of the NEW LIFE MEGA CHURCH, would like to know.

 

1. The fact that she was allegedly fired from the Minneapolis Police Department for an alleged violation involving not telling the truth about an incident concerning a bus driver, should not take away from what she may have done to save many people from being shot. I find it questionable that she was fired for the aforementioned incident but maybe there is more to that story.

2. I did attend her first press conference at the Colorado Springs Police Department and I did find it strange that she and her Pastor REFUSED to answer any questions about her highly touted police background.

3. I have heard from another source that Ms. Assam had worked for the Colorado Division of Adult Parole and that she may have departed that job allegedly for some of the same reasons that were given for her allegedly being fired from the Minneapolis Police Department.

4. I have a question about the time line. All reports clearly state that the 911 Operator took the 1st call at 1:10 PM and that "POLICE ARRIVED AT THE SCENE AT 1:13 PM.

5. That time line has NEVER changed.

6. In order for that to be accurate, in 3 minutes, Mr. Murray would have had to deploy alleged smoke canister's at one end of the massive MEGA STRUCTURE, travel to the an adjacent parking lot and open fire and unfortunately striking 3 members of one family. One of which was pronounced dead at the scene and her sister unfortunately died hours later, their father remains in the hospital. That tragic incident was allegedly observed by the mother and a twin sister.

7. Mr. Murray would have then had to travel to another area at which time he reportedly entered the Church while firing a weapon. The first reports indicate that he was wearing BODY ARMOR & carrying an assault rifle, however, going back to the day of the tragedy, EVERYONE reported LIVE on FOX Television that there WERE NO SHOTS FIRED INSIDE THE CHURCH, that clearly is in contrast to what has since been reported. Once again I believe VIDEO from inside the Church cameras should help clear that up.

8. Ms. Assam stated that she heard the tremendously loud shots, she "TOOK COVER," she prayed for Jesus to help her stop any more violence, Jesus steadied her hands, she then left her cover, faced the shooter and "IDENTIFIED HERSELF," after doing so she "ENGAGED THE SHOOTER" and "TOOK HIM DOWN."

9. I can attest to the fact that she was no doubt shaking, she was truly Blessed that Jesus answered her prayers and steadied her hand so she could accurately "TAKE DOWN" the shooter and stop any further carnage. Anyone that had the nerve to do what she did, as described in her own words, is truly a HERO.

10. I have arrested countless people over the past 35 plus years and I believe in GOD as much as anyone, however, I cannot recall a single incident that while effectuating an arrest that I was NOT SHAKING, before, during and after the arrest.

11. YES, I have arrested MURDER SUSPECTS that were later tried and convicted. Was I scared? Yes, did I SHAKE? Hell yes and I defy anyone who makes the claim that if and when he/she were engaged in an actual GUNFIGHT, that they were not SHAKING and FEARFUL.

12. The FEAR FACTOR is clearly supported by statistics. Statistics such as: When you are qualifying at a range, your shooting for accuracy score may be in the high 90's. When you are being timed by an instructor your score may drop to the 80's or below, when you are ENGAGED IN AN ACTUAL SHOOTING, YOUR SCORE FOR ACCURACY CONSISTENTLY WILL DROP TO THE 40'S AND MOST LIKELY BELOW! The obvious reason is because of the adrenaline is running so high in you, your shaking and therefore your accuracy is NOT the same as at the range. Most police related shootings occur within 7 to 10 feet.

SUMMARY:

I know that it is extremely important to allow both the Arvada Police Department, The Colorado Springs Police Department and all other outside agencies they have employed to test and evaluate evidence, as well as comparing what must be volumes of individual officer notes from witness interviews and their own observations as well as EXAMINING ALL VIDEO FOOTAGE.

 

There is the report of the gentleman that was shot and received minor injuries, however, his statement is critical since he has been on LOCAL, NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL Television telling his story about begging a NEW LIFE ARMED SECURITY GUARD for his weapon so he could stop the shooter, he claims to have engaged the shooter TWO TIMES to distract him and that he wanted to use his military training and for whatever reason he ARMED NEW LIFE SECURITY GUARD would neither engage the shooter nor would he relinquish his weapon to the member of the church that had taken cover with the Guard. That same man tells how he and Ms. Assam then approached the shooter, with Ms. Assam firing her weapon and yelling for the shooter to SURRENDER. He next only tells of watching the shooter slide down the wall to the floor.

 

Is his story accurate? If the other ARMED NEW LIFE CHURCH SECURITY GUARD was actually closer to the shooter, what STOPPED him from "ENGAGING" the shooter prior to Ms. Assam, who reportedly was further away?

 

It would seem that with 3 known individuals looking directly at the shooter as he entered the Church, at least one of them will be able to tell us all, at what point did MATTHEW MURRAY take his own life as determined in the AUTOPSY REPORT.

 

At what point did MATTHEW MURRAY no longer present a THREAT to anyone, after taking his own life, allegedly shooting himself in the head which one would have to presume resulted in causing his death instantly?

 

One report released states he was shot by Ms Assam, 2 times in the leg, once in the wrist. I would guess that being shot 3 times with an alleged 9MM, must have presented some real shocking power. At this time, I am not sure which leg or legs he was shot in, or which wrist, if it were the wrist of his SHOOTING HAND I think that would be very important! The distance from which he was shot from will also be very telling about his ability to physically and mentally decide to take his own life.

 

The alleged self inflicted gunshot wound should have been fairly evident, I would think from past experience, that particular wound would have caused visible gunshot residue from being so close and if it was a much higher caliber of weapon then that used by Ms. Assam.

 

We have a very competent POLICE DEPARTMENT and we cannot forget to give credit to SHERIFF TERRY MAKETA for all of the support that his Sheriff's Department provided. I feel certain that in time all of these questions will be answered and most likely most of them probably already have been.

 

My very last thought is that I am Catholic, my Priest is a Colorado Springs Police Chaplain, I have attended St. Mary's Cathedral until I moved to another Parish. I keep hearing about how common it is for Churches to have ARMED SECURITY GUARDS and it is common practice to "TRAIN AND PREPARE" for incidents such as what happened in Arvada and at New Life Church one week ago.

 

In over 50 years  of attending my churches, I HAVE NEVER been TRAINED or PREPARED in case of an act of violence or terror nor have I ever heard of any such training. I don't recall ever walking into a Church and seeing or knowing of any ARMED SECURITY GUARDS. We don't see ARMED GUARDS at the MALL'S, BANKS or other institutions that would be prime targets for violence.

 

I wonder how many of the SEVEN THOUSAND parishioners that were at New Life Church last Sunday, had a CLUE that there were men and women walking around the church with concealed weapons because of some reason that PASTOR BOYD made clear they HAD TRAINED and PREPARED FOR.

 

Has there been a continuous threat at New Life Church for some reason? We know by a published police report I believe in October 2002, the Colorado Springs Police Department and the Air Force Academy Police responded with the S. W. A. T. team due to reports of several people in the parking lot of NEW LIFE CHURCH with what appeared to be automatic rifles. It was reported that it was a YOUTH GROUP TRAINING with SIMULATED AUTOMATIC WEAPONS in preparation for MISSION trips they may be taking. I personally would have serious thoughts about sending one of my children on a MISSION trip that required he/she know how to use an AUTOMATIC RIFLE.

 

These are my personal thoughts and in NO WAY do I want to dismiss the anguish that all of the families of the victims have and will endure, MY MOST SINCERE PRAYERS  and THOUGHTS go out to everyone that was either a victim, family member or effected by this tragedy in any manner, that is to include MATTHEW MURRAY and his FAMILY and FRIENDS. Everyone is a victim when a tragedy like this occurs.
